The Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA) of western countries is very different from that of India. WES or World Education Services, a designated provider for IRCC since 2013, helps international students to assess their degrees, diplomas, or certificates as per the Canadian System of Education. WES will provide you with a report that will help you claim points related to education. In simpler terms, they help you assess your Indian degree in the form of the Canadian Credit system.

But WES doesn’t support every Indian Universities. Many Indian Universities are in fact blacklisted. No credential valuation will be done by WES for these Universities. It should be noted that there are many other bodies like WES that do ECAs as well. It is also not necessary that if WES doesn’t approve of a university then the others won’t as well. The others, in fact, might allow the ECAs for the WES blacklisted Universities or institutions. And as you would expect the cost for different ECA organizations will vary as well.

16-year education rule USA
Many universities and colleges in the USA and Canada require 16 years of total education for a person to be eligible for a master’s degree. These 16 years are divided into 12 years of school, middle, school, and senior secondary education, while the remaining 4 are for the undergraduate degree/program. You must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent or a total of 4 years of undergraduate education (3-year degree plus 1-year diploma). Although some institutions do not require a 4-year undergraduate-level education, all the major institutes and the top-rated universities will ask for 4 years or equivalent degrees.
Many universities and colleges in India do not provide year bachelor programs, hence WES assessment is required for the students with 3-year degrees to check whether their 3-year degree holds the same credit evaluation as compared to a similar 4-year degree in the USA. Blacklisted Universities by WES
But WES doesn’t support every Indian Universities/College. Many Indian Universities are blacklisted. No credential valuation will be done by WES for these Universities. All the universities mentioned above are WES-approved universities. Others are blacklisted.
