SAT or the Scholastic Assessment Test is a comprehensive exam conducted in the USA to check a candidate’s capabilities. The test is administered by the Education Testing Service and focuses on a candidate’s verbal, writing, and mathematical ability. It is regarded as one of the most difficult tests in the world and rightly so as it is a pen-paper exam with a time limit, it requires a great deal of strategizing.

It is pretty much accepted all around the globe and its scores are primarily used by US colleges and universities for admission of a candidate from inside and outside the country for undergraduate levels. You can appear for the exam as many times as you want and it is held 7 times a year.

It has two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and mathematics. It is 3 hours long.

Is SAT a difficult exam?

This exam is not just about giving straight answers to the questions, but the exam is more about strategy based. It’s not just about reading books to solve papers. You need to put up a timetable together for each day and practice rigorously.  So yes, the SAT is a difficult exam but with enough amount of practice, it becomes very clear for every student how to approach the paper correctly. This makes the exam not so difficult if you put the regular time for practice in.

How do I start preparing for SAT exam?

After consulting multiple students and experts, we have come up with the 4 best strategies through which you can easily crack the SAT. These 4 strategies are as follows

Learn about the structure of the exam

The most ignored part of the SAT exam is people ignoring its structure. Now it just doesn’t mean to have knowledge about the 2 sections. You should learn more about these sections from the people who have already given this exam. Consulting seniors, and teachers, and reviewing each and every rule and remark on the official website is very much required to even start your studies.

Daily Schedule

Once you get the hang of the subjects, start practicing every section-based question every day. Prepare a healthy schedule and give equal time to all the sections and question types. Once you are getting good at the schedule, change it a bit, add the more difficult questions, and then start timing your answers. The time is from when you start your daily set of questions to when that set ends. Compare the time every day and compare it with the average time that many questions will take in a real-time exam. This will increase your efficiency in manifolds. Try making different schedules for each day so it doesn’t get mundane and most importantly, assess your week by pointing out your weak points and giving more time to them in the subsequent week.

Mock tests

Everyone has always said that mocks are the key to success, and guess what? They are right. Every once in a while in your schedule, you should put a time slot for a mock test and aim for a realistic course based on your prep. It is not important to give a mock every day. But a high and constant frequency is needed. Mock tests with constant practice and time management will be your pillars to success in SAT exam. One of the most difficult exams after a few mocks won’t feel that difficult.

Start reading

If you already read, well and good but you need to up the game in terms of grammar difficulty and speed. If you don’t read, you will have a lot of problems in the verbal section of the test. Newspapers, media articles, and books anything will work, preferably with a difficult grammar style.

If you follow these 4 important steps with your whole heart, there is a very high chance that you will score well on the SAT exam and get into the college of your dreams.
